3DSlash – Have you heard of it? me neither, but its a super basic voxel based 3D Model editor

3D Slash WebsitelinkI was perusing Youmagine, looking for the benchy download to assist a fellow redditor, when i noticed an additional icon next to the download button. So, of course, being the inquisitor that I pride myself on being, i followed the “Edit in 3dslash” link.Editing a benchylinkThis is a voxel based editing tool, clearly, as the otherwise smooth benchy has been converted to small cubes. The interface screen allows for manipulation of the model, via translation, addition, subtraction, or color options. There are sliders on the lower and right extents of the screen interface, which show the dimension of your model (millimeters), and allow for clipping the model, or perhaps it’s purely a clipping VIEW, rather than an exportable clipping? I’m guessing this is a tablet-friendly interface as well, or certainly appears to beThe Hammer Tool removes material in the area where you place the tooltip. The TrowelTool- Adds a block where you place the tooltip. The Chisel Tool- Removes rows or columns of blocks. The Wall Tool- Adds a row of blocks. The Drill Tool- removes an entire “part” if your model has mltiple parts. all blocks added are considered separate as far as i can tell. There’s Other Options including image projection on to the model, for reference, or importing a 3D model as a tool, Color options, and selection options, as well as basic manipulation/translationI think it’s a cool idea, and it’s free. That being said, i doubt i’ll be using it, since i’ve already got very good programs for mesh editing and creation, but who knows, a few hours on a train and i’ll do just about anything for fun. Not in any way related to anything relating to this product/service/website/whatever, although with the formatting of this post i understand if it looks like a shill post. It is not. http://ift.tt/2Bch7qb
