how does PLA hold up in the elements?

I’ve got a quick and dirty design that I was going to use to mount some stuff outside. This would be exposed to everything Michigan has to throw at it, hot summers, cold winters, snow, rain, you name it. I’ve been looking for resources on how well PLA should hold up, but haven’t been able to find much of use. I’m sure I’m not the first person to wonder this, so I wanted to see from your own experience how well things have held up? I’m particularly concerned about the cold. http://ift.tt/2cZDiU4

Yellow powder coming from E3D v6?

I’ve just removed my E3D v6 from my machine as I think there’s an issue with my thermistor. Turned it over and saw this yellow powder coming out of it, its almost like sulfur. I bought the v6 as an assembled kit and haven’t touched it until now after printing nylon, abs and petg with it on and off for the past few weeks. Any idea what this powder could be? Highest i’ve taken the temp is 265c, so still within its limits. Thanks. http://ift.tt/2deyYSd

Printer stops extruding, filament looks chewed up.

I’ve got a Da Vinci 1.0A, it’s been printing fine for the last year, and all of a sudden prints are failing just a few layers in, when extrusion stops, and when I remove the filament it looks like this: http://ift.tt/2dpxOBP in Microcenter’s PLA at 190 for the head and 60 for the bed.It looks like there’s a bunch of little notches, and then a relatively big chunk taken out of the top of the notches. Any ideas on how to fix this issue? http://ift.tt/2cOyyTs
